The game of hide and seek

By: Della Cummings

One night I went over to my neighbors house because every year we go over there to watch the Super Bowl. This was a year or two ago and but not a faint memory. So like I was saying I went over there and we were easily bored so decided to play some games. First, we thought of Monster... not dark enough yet. Then, basic truth or dare, but without the truth...the dares weren't fun.
Finally we decided to play hide-and-go-seek. This was easily agreeable due to the space and all the hiding places at his house. After a couple of fun rounds went by we started to get more used to all the hiding places and decided to play it as a more exciting game. We all agreed to doing it where you would hide only in a place where you would never go such as the fridge, fireplace, up high above a shelf etc. Somewhat small placed that you would think someone would never be pretty much. Well it began to be my turn to count and turns out I'm a pretty good seeker until it came to finding one of, how do I say this nicely, a more mentally challenged then the rest of us friend. (In other words just really dumb I guess, but I only say this to be nice and in a jokingly matter because he's one of my best friends).
So it took me a good while to try and find him. I asked if the other hiders had seen him run off in a certain direction but they had no idea. I quickly thought of the new rule of small, unnoticed places and gave me an idea. We all were looking for him and so I went to go check in the laundry room to see if he was in any of the cupboards. Nothing. So while I was in there and running out of luck, I decided to check everything in every room. I was still in the laundry room when I heard a weird squeaky noise come from the dryer. I crouched down and put my ear closer and heard the little tune of Clash Royale going on and realized that he was in there. I told all my friends to come over and ask what I should do because after all the searching I couldn't just simply open it and start over oh no no no! So I thought, "what if I were to just press the On button for a half a second just to scare him and turn it off right away." Being such a kind person that I am, I gave him a warning that I was going to do it but he didn't believe me. Since he didn't believe me, of course knowing myself, I did it and right as I turned it on I heard a yell so I turned it off after about 3 seconds. We immediately opened the dryer door and he popped out and he was hot and actually had a little burn mark on the back of his shoulder. (It wasn't that bad!)
So ever since that day he doesn't doubt me and whenever we get in an argument, I always bring up this story and it quickly ends! It was a pretty fun night that night and he actually remembers going round and round and says it was actually kind of fun.
