The Woods

The Wretched One

It was Halloween night, and Adalea had just finished putting on her costume. She always went with a classic zombie. This year, she and her friends, Lila and Zoe, were going to meet by the woods to have a little scare competition, and Adalea was confident in her scaring skills. As she was leaving, her mother told her to put on her coat before she went out. Adalea quickly dismissed the order and went out the door anyways. As he walked down the street, smoking a cigarette, she regreted not getting her coat. But she was too far away from the house to get it, and she wanted to get to the meeting place first to get the first scare. She continued walking as she flicked her cigarette into the street. When she got closer to the woods, she saw a tall, slim figure standing perfectly still where they were supposed to meet. At first she thought it must be Lila in her costume, but when it turned around and stared at her with soulless white eyes, she knew she was screwed. She had enough time to scream before it charged at her and grabbed her throat in a deadly grip. "I'm going to die here. By these freaking woods. Killed by an ugly monster. Great." she thought to herself. It seemed like forever before she finally suffocated and fell limp. The creature dropped her body and began to eat her dead flesh. Lila was soon on the menu too, seeing the body, screaming, the creature breaking her neck in one swift movement. It's hunger wasn't satisfied, so it ate her too. Zoe was a bit harder to capture and feast upon, because she ran. Fast. But not as fast as the creature who lived in the woods. No, nothing could escape him, especially his prey. Zoe had sweeter blood than the rest, so the creature enjoyed this one for awhile. When he was done, it buried the bodies in a deep hole it had dug, and scattered the leaves around to hide the crimson blood stains. He didn't want them to be found, because then who would come to be his next meal? Plenty of people came by everyday. Some didn't make it home. It was the perfect feasting place. This is why the creature loved his woods....
