The New Sheriff
Lindsey McCuistion
The train comes to a complete stop at Baddon and you are the only one to rise and collect your bags. Everyone watches you get off in an awed silence, like they’re watching your funeral. You’re barely off the train before it starts moving again, leaving you alone on the dusty old platform.
You’re
the new sheriff in town. You came here upon request of an old friend who lives
here, since the old sheriff got shot a while ago and no one in a 60 mile radius
would take up the position. If that wasn’t enough to jump on the job, you and
everyone else in the state knows that this is the toughest, most dangerous town
in America. No wonder they called you in.
