The Monkey's Paw
Abdulaziz Al-Gethami & Mohammed Al-Eid
The night was cold and wet, in the Whites' small parlor of Laburnum Villa the blinds were drawn and the fire burned brightly. The Whites were a family of three: The father, Mr.White, the mother, Mrs.White, and the son, Herbert. It had been an eventful night for the Whites. It had started with only them playing chess but after their long awaited guest, Sergeant Major Morris, had arrived and left the mood shifted completely. Morris had claimed he had owned an old talisman, a monkey’s paw, that could grant wishes. Morris cautiously told them that the paw’s wishing abilities came from a spell put on by a fakir because he had wanted to show people how many consequences messing with fate had. The Whites ignored his constant warning and precautions and sat pondering about what their first wish should be.
