The Accident

Josie and Cassie

On one cold December night in the Colorado mountains, my friend Rebecca and I decided to go have some fun. We started to get sick of staying in our cabin, when there was so much to do out in the mountains.
As we left the cabin, Rebecca told me, “I have a weird feeling in my stomach.” She was holding her stomach, and she looked a little pale. I didn’t ask her any questions because I figured she was just cold. So we got on all of our gear and we start our snowmobiles. We waited about 5-10 minutes until the snowmobiles got all warmed up. “Lets go get some hot cocoa at the diner.” Rebecca announced
“Alright, that sounds yummy! We will head out in about 5 more minutes, the snowmobiles will be warmed up by then.” 5 minutes later we headed out and we went right down to the diner but first we had to fill up with gas, when we were done we went and got our hot chocolate that we were craving.
“Should we sit by the window so we can watch other snowmobiles go by?” questioned Rebecca. “Yes we should, replied Brittney” As we walked over to the window we seen a group of snowmobiles go by. We knew that the trails had to be good seeing all those snowmobiles. After we finished our hot cocoa we got all bundled up and headed back out. “What trail do you want to go on first?”
“Do you want to take the trail up into the mountain?” I wondered aloud.
“Sure why not.” she answered
We left and heading up to the trail. We met about 10 other snowmobiles. We seen this really cool ski-doo long track that was all black with some really eye catching yellow designs. Right as we hit the trail we stopped to make sure everything was okay and if we were ready to go.
“I heard that there is going to be a bad storm coming around midnight we should be back right?” Rebecca warned. “Well I sure hope we will be back by then!”
We left and started messing around in some powder that was about 30 miles away from our cabin. “What time is it Brittany?” Rebecca asked. “It can’t be any later that 10:30 I would sure think!” I shouted.
As we started on the trail, we noticed how nice the fresh powder was. We wanted to go out and start jumping. But when all of the sudden something horrible happened. “BRITTANY!!” Screamed Rebecca, “ARE YOU ALRIGHT!” She didn’t hear any response.
“I’m coming, can you hear me?” Rebecca asked as she looked frantically. As she rode over to me on her on her 2004 Polaris snowmobile, she was devastated to see me all crumpled up laying in the snow. When she seen my 2001 Ski-doo snowmobile all broken into pieces she knew something wasn't right.
“I’ll call for help…no reception!” she pleaded.
I woke up and couldn’t feel my body at alI I had no clue where I was at. “Brittany you’re awake!” Rebecca cried.“
Where am I?”
“You are in the hospital.”
“Why am I in here?”
“You got in a snowmobile accident and you were in a coma for three days.
“Did you see it happen?”
“Yeah it was pretty epic!”
“Can you explain?”
“Well we were messing around and you hit this jump and your track got stuck on a pole.”
“Ooh my! Is my snowmobile okay?”
“Well its kind of in pieces.”
“Well at least I have insurance on it!”
“Yeah.”
“Well, did you have fun?”
“Yeah, besides you ending up in here.”
“Yeah same here.”
The doctor came in and told me what was really wrong, I couldn’t do anything better than break down.
