A Cross to Bear

Bermondsey Street

INTRO TEXT: As the days past the fires continued to rage. London, a city, fuelled by gas, petrol and alcohol has continued to explode and burst into flame, leaving its survivors with nowhere to turn. While some have tried to leave the city, others have taken solace in their communities; in schools and in churches. As Jake tries to outrun a fire blazing from borough market, he finds a church on Bermondsey Street street full of people singing and praying. They are in the path of the fire and only have moments to evacuate. Can Jake convince them to escape?
I can hear singing coming from inside the church and a powerful booming voice. I open the door and yell "fire is coming this way, you need to evacuate." The rector raises his hands in front of his congregation and says; "Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels! Leave this church only if you want to suffer eternal damnation! Only in this church can salvation be found!" The people are transfixed; brainwashed. I can't leave them here to be burnt alive!
