Jackfruit County Supercenter

It is the evening of Thursday, August 16, 2018. The sun hangs low and red in an ashy sky. You have just arrived in the parking lot of the Jackfruit County Supercenter, the largest shopping mall within a 100-mile radius of your small hometown in Arizona. You just moved there, actually. In fact, you're not finished unpacking all your things. You're not sure what the connotation of the word "hometown" is but you're not going to take the time to fix it. You swear you can see the heat radiating from the pavement. As you drive, you notice that there are only two other cars in the parking lot. One a sensible beige sedan, the other a small, 2-seater convertible. You didn't necessarily expect the mall to be busy at 7pm on a Thursday, but you didn't expect it to be this deserted either.
