The Snowmobile Mix Up
Dylan & Mariah
It was the middle of December and I was getting ready to go snowmobiling. It is starting to snow and Kevin was coming over to go. There was suppose to be a blizzard but the news said its a 20% chance so we went anyway. When Kevin arrived, we were ready to go, we had a great spot up in the mountains where we always go. We got the snowmobiles on the trailer so we could drive up there.
When we got there it was almost dark, but we still went. When we were 10 miles away on the trail the blizzard hit, so we decided to turn around but then our snowmobiles’ batteries died. We noticed something moving in the distance but ignored it.“What was that?” Kevin asked. “I don’t know, lets not worry about and try and get our snowmobiles to run,” I said.“Okay, it was probably nothing anyways,” Kevin said.“Do you have an extra battery Kevin?” I asked.“I don’t think so, I think I ran out actually,” Kevin responded.“Look at that shadow in the distance I think it’s getting closer,” I replied.
We saw a human like figure and we called out to it hoping that it was someone that could help, but as soon as we called out the figure was no longer there.“Do you think that was a person going to get their snowmobile to come pick us up?” I asked.“From the way it ran away from us I don’t think so,” Kevin said “Well I think we are going to have to walk back, but its going to be hard because you can hardly see,” I responded.“Yeah, well, I don’t think it’s coming back,” Kevin said warily. We moved on and left our snowmobiles hoping to find someone who could help.
We were walking back on the same path that we drove on, but the snow is covering up the tracks.“I think we are going to be stuck out here,” I said.“Yeah, what are we going to do?” Kevin asked.“What’s that over there, I think it is the thing from earlier,” I said quietly.“It is getting closer, should we wait and see if it is help or run?” Kevin asked.“Lets go I don’t think it is a person because it looks like it has a limp,” I whispered.“Yeah I don’t think thats a person, Lets run!” Kevin yelled but in a quiet kind of way.
We were about ¼ of a mile from where we were earlier and look back and the thing left again. We just stood there and waited.“I don’t know why it ran off again?” I asked.“Maybe it is going to come back later,” Kevin suggested.“I think we should try and walk back,” I replied.“I don’t know, I think we should stay here,” Kevin said.“Well, I am going to walk and see what is going on,” I answered. I walked back down the trail to where the thing was and Kevin stayed by the snowmobiles.
A little while later...Kevin decided that I must have been captured so he started to follow us.“The thing must have got him,” Kevin said.Kevin saw that we went into a building. He followed us to the building and came in.“Kevin? I thought you were going to stay by the snowmobiles,” I said.“I thought you got nabbed by a monster,” Kevin said.“No, I am just glad you’re not stuck out in the blizzard,” I replied.“Well, you all can stay here until the blizzard is over then we can go get your snowmobiles running,” said Steve.“Okay, how long do you think it will take to fix them?” said Kevin.“I don’t know, but I will make sure they get up and running,” said Steve. When the blizzard passed we went to the snowmobiles and Steve helped us get them working and we went back home.
