The Unforgettable Flight
Anonymous
Last year I flew from Colorado to Hawaii with my friend Jamie. He had his pilot’s license and his own plane, so all I had to do was help him pay for gas. We were planning on going to Hawaii, but then everything went downhill.
I asked him, “When are we going to go?” as I sat in the car with my bag.
“In 1 hour,” he told me.
“Do you need help with the plane?” I asked.
“All I will need is gas for the plane,” he said.
“Ok,” as I went to get the gas from the car.
“We should probably go get packed for the trip to Hawaii,” He said excitedly, “But you can’t pack heavily because my plane isn’t big enough for a lot of luggage.”
“Ok,” I said in a sad voice.
“You don’t need that much luggage do you?” he said.
“ No,” I said walking to unpack. I am the most girly girl in the world with long hair to my waset. I did unpack but not much, just some dresses. By some, I mean 2. But Jamie is different, he only packs a few clothes that he knows that he will need, and once in a while maybe a little accessories here and there.
“Well jeez, it looks like you have one bag of things just for your hair!” he said weirdly.
“Yeah,” I said.
“Well, I’ll just pack less so you can bring the stuff you need. Let’s just get on the plane and head to Hawaii,” he said annoyingly.
“That was the best thing he said,” So I got on the plane with all of my stuff.
The two friends went off to their trip to Hawaii, flying above open sea, but then all of a sudden, something went wrong.
“The engine is failing!” Jamie screamed to me.
I didn’t look, I was too scared, too scared to think of my last day.
“All I can see see is water!” Jamie said.
Just then I looked up, I saw a small island. “Over there!” I screamed back at him pointing at the island.
“I’ll see if I can crash the plane onto the island,” He told me.
“Hold on,” he yelled. The plane was making a sound. A like a dying horse.
Just then we crashed. I looked out of my window to see parts of the plane on the sand.
“Are you okay?” he asked me.
“Yes!” I yelled.
“Ok good,” he said. “Now we have to figure out where we are.”
I looked up at the sky to find the answer.
“I hope we are on Hawaii.” I said cheerful.
“I don’t think it’s a good sign that I can see the other end of the island,” He nervously told me.
“Well, we should get the stuff out of the plane.” I said.
“Then we can see if we can use anything for helping us get off this island.” He told me.
“We should write SOS in the sand,” I told him.
“Do you have your cell phone or anything? Mine fell out when were crashing.” he told me sadly.
“Yes, here.” I pulled out my phone and gave it to him.
Jamie looked at the phone, “There’s no reception!” Jamie told me angrily.
I look around to find something to do. “I will get the stuff out of the plane and make shelter.
“Ok sounds good,” Jamie told me.
The two of us made shelter out of some of the clothes that I had, since i had so many. We made the shelter by tying the clothes together and then hooking them around two trees that were close together.
“We should probably start looking for food before it gets dark.” Jamie told me nervously.
“Fine by me,” I said hunger.
“Lets split up since the island isn’t very big. Then meet back here during sunset.” He told me.
So I went to find some food when I saw a small aircraft. I ran to tell Jamie.
“Jamie I saw a plane!” I said
“Where did you see it coming coming from?” Jamie asked excitedly.
“From the north!” I said happily.
“Maybe since we crashed trying to fly to Hawaii, there might be a lot of planes trying to fly there to. So that means there could be a lot more trying to fly here!” he told me with excitement.
“So, how will we get of this island?” I asked him.
“I say we go to the spot where you saw the plane go by. Then we can set up our stuff there.” he told me.
“Ok sounds good to me,” I said
So Jamie and I went down to the spot where I saw the plane. Then we set our shelter and campfire so we would be ready for another plane to come.
“We need a flashlight.” Jamie told me.
“why?” I said
“I know how to use them to get help if we see a plane.” He told me.
“Ok, here,” I gave him the flashlight from my bag
“Good. Now we just have to wait for planes to come by.” He told me with confidence.
“But the flashlight isn’t going to work during the day. We need to write SOS in the sand, and have it stick out as much as possible.” He said to me.
“Ok,” as I started to make the letters.
“And we need to find rocks so it will stick out in the sand, so the planes can see it,” he said to me.
So I went to the trees to find some rocks.
“Now let’s outlines the letters with the rocks that we picked up,” He said with confidence.
“But we won’t have enough rock,” I said.
“When we run out, we’ll just have to go and look for more,” he said.
just then, a light was in the sky.
“Is that a helicopter?” Jamie screamed with excitement.
“I think so!” I said.
“Give me the flashlight!” he screamed to me.
I gave him the flashlight.
Just then, we saw the helicopter stop. It saw us. We’re not stuck anymore.
The helicopter took us to Hawaii and we took the next plane back to Colorado. When we got back, Jamie and I both pretended that nothing ever happened.
