MATTHEW.R

It's been twelve years since that day. When I was 25 years old, I had a house in the countryside in Japan with my family. I had a wife and two kids. We grew ninjin on our farm. Everything was great until that night when I got up in the middle of the night to get some water and the water was outside in the well. When I got to the well and I turned around and the house was on fire. I tried to run into the house when all of a sudden it collapsed. When I extinguished the fire, I noticed that the fire was started because the stove from the kitchen was left on and caught on the curtains. I felt very depressed because I was the last one who  touched the stove that night. Because I was cooking nijin soup my personal recipe. That morning, I buried their bodies where they laid and I took off on a plane to America in Cleveland, Ohio.  I couldn't stand the pain of being in Japan and  all the memories of being with my wife and kids. I heard a lot about all about the good things in America. When I got to America, I got a job as a waiter at a sushi restaurant. I was miserable. People gave me poor tips, my boss was cruel to me and to the other employees. My shift was early 12:00pm - 4:00pm which was good for me because I have to walk to and from my apartment  and to the restaurant. One day I was going to work when I saw a sign that said construction ahead so I took a different route to work. On my way to work  I saw an empty lot with a lot of people in it.  I thought that people were making a new building. when I got to the open space I saw that the people made a garden. I saw lots of people attending to their crops or plants. there were lots of people in the garden an Asian little girl, a man with a straw hat, man that I have seen at the restaurant his name is Sam. Sam have been every nice to me when I told Sam about my family, we have gotten to know each other really.  One day Sam asked me, ”Do you want to plant something in the garden? We have lots of space and it might help you with your pain about your family.” I said,” I would like to plant something in the garden.” Sam asked, ”what are you  going to plant in the garden.” I said, ”I'm going to plant ninjin, a type of carrot from my home land.” The next day I came to the garden and Sam was waiting for me. I had seed packets of ninjin. I planted the ninjin in a empty spot in the garden. After a month the ninjin grew and when I  picked  them up I had a big smile on my face and I thought to himself,” I'm home with my family at last.” Sam asked, ”What are you going to do with all that ninjin.” I said. ” I am going to make ninjin soup like the good old days.”
