Group 6-05

There was once a time when humans and animals lived in harmony. Animals would live in the forest and humans would next to it in the small kampong known as Temasek, its citadel is situated right on top of what we now call the Bukit Timah Hill, allowing both of them to live their separate lifestyles. The animals ventured around the lush green forest, staying united as one, while the humans kept developing their city.
The peace did not last, however, as the both the king of Singapore, Raja Jahat, wanted to expand the land so as to allow for a much larger population. So he called for a meeting with the animals, who agreed to give up a small piece of land to the humans for their development.
One day, the animals went to the citadel, accused that Raja Jahat had taken too much land from them. However, Raja Jahat claimed that he did in fact take no more than the specified area of land. He deemed the animals unreasonable and chased them out of the town.
The leader of the animals, a deer named Sang Rusa, heard of this and was furious, “Raja Jahat just wants to take over our home. I cannot allow this!” Thus, he went to meet Raja Jahat and ordered that the humans leave the areas they were not supposed to take. However, he insisted that he did no such thing and shouted, “You are all unreasonable liars! This will not go on any longer!” With that, the harmony between them was destroyed.
Tensions built with each passing day, as conflicts between humans and animals worsened, and both sides were on the brink of war. Some of the wolves that lived near the town decided to attack the workers who were cutting down trees for land development when they approached so as to chase them out. The workers were caught by surprise, leaving many of them heavily injured. Raja Jahat knew of this and decided that the animals were going too far, declaring war against them.
Animals and humans fought relentlessly, with no sign of either side giving up. As the days passed, the number of casualties on both sides increased. It seemed as if the harmony could never be restored. This was the story that spread throughout the town and parents would tell their children about this story on multiple occasions.
