Eligo
Emily Cheng
You jolt awake and frantically open your eyes, but there is only darkness. You remember glimpses of the past, but it's not coherent. You hesitantly lie back in what seems to be an incubation pod. Barely able to see your hands in front of your face, you slowly move around, feeling the cold against the icy aluminum surface above. Accidentally, you push against a lever that retracts the pod covering. A thin strip of white, incandescent light blinks to life a few feet in front of you. It briefly flashes a larger text reading "ELIGO" in crimson letters, but then fades. An automated voice explains, “The year is 2121. You were placed in an induced coma within this chamber over one hundred years ago. Welcome back.” As your eyes adjust to the dim light, you notice the surroundings of your room. You're sitting in the only pod, placed dead-center in the room. As you look around, you see a door with a handprint lock-code is to your left. On the floor in front of you is a latch.
