The Alley robber

Devin and Colby

It happened last year in the morning. My best friend, Colby and I were walking home. We live in NY, and it was really hot because it was summer. Colby stopped for awhile looking at food through a window and wanted to stop to eat. But we had to get home. We turned down an alley. We heard a strange noise. It sounded like someone walking with metal shoes and chains.
I asked, “What was that?’’
“I have no idea,” Colby responded.
He shrugged his shoulders and sighed loudly. I was sure he was scared too, but he always pretended to be braver than me. “You turn around first,” I said, but I looked over my shoulder anyway, and what I saw was a rat jumping from the dumpster.  He was bigger than any rat I’d seen in my life.
We went to the restaurant anyway because Colby was whining that he was hungry. Colby got a huge donut with a lot of pink sprinkles and purple frosting. Colby devoured the donut like it was a Cheerio. I got a piece of pizza and Mtn Dew. Iate the pizza slowly so I could eat it when I got home.
‘’Lets go,” Colby screamed.
When we left it was darked we turned down the alley again. We walked about half way down and we heard the metal shoes and chains again. We thought it was a rat but what we saw was not. Colby looked around the corner for a split second. What he saw was a shadow of a huge person almost seven feet tall. Colby told me to get in a dark shadow, so I could not be seen.
Colby whispered to me, “Should we run back to the house?”
“Do you think we can make it?” I asked.
I’m not sure.” Colby said shaking.
We ran as fast as we could. It felt like flying. But the Colby tripped and the figure was catching up and I had to chose to let the figure get me and Colby or just Colby. But luckily I didn’t have to make the decision because the figure had gone away. We were so tired that we had to walk home but then just around the corner the figure was there when we turned. We were pulled to the ground as if we were being pushed down. He told us to give him our wallets or else we would get killed. So we had to because it was better than dying. He took everything out and threw our wallets back at us.
“What should we do,” Colby said.
Then a car drove by and it had a police in it.
“We yelled stop! We need help!”
“ With what?” he asked.
“There was a huge figure chasing us and it robbed us!” Colby said.
The cop said, “Where was it at?”
“It was in the alley,” I interrupted
“What did it look like?” he asked.
“How are we supposed to know it was a shadow ok!” I yelled
“Well It was really big with spikes”, Colby said
“Do you think it was an animal or a person?” the cop asked curiously
“Hard to tell.”I said.
“Well we will keep an eye out on this area and see if we can find anybody or anything like that.” Said the cop.
“Thank you sir.” We said.
“No problem.” Answered the cop.
The next day we decided not to go to that part of town. While we were inside we were watching tv and we heard about a few robber stories happening in that area.We decided not to go outside for a while unless we needed to. We both had never experienced anything like it before in our lives. We heard a knock on our door and we got really scared. We were afraid to answer the door so I yelled Who is it? Someone answered in a deep voice and said it’s the police letting you know that we have found the robber and we are here to return all of your things. We opened the door and they had our wallets and all of the stuff inside them. We thanked the police officers and shook their hands.
I had to go to work and I ended up taking the long route and colby stayed home asleep. After work I had to go home and it was boring. When I got home colby was asleep until he wanted to go out to eat. we went to the same restaurant and took the same way home. But I was shaking and was very nervous.
That day we thought we were all safe. We were walking in the same alley and nothing happened to us until we got to the very end. There was the same sized shadow around the corner. We heard the exact same noise. It sounded farther away than last time. We decided to run. We were running for a long time. After about ten minutes we stopped and looked behind us and there was nothing back there. We had to stop for about two minutes to breathe.
“That was a close one.” Colby said.
“ I know that was scary. “
That week we found out that they opened a new store down the street and so we both promised to never go to that part of town again.
