A Walk home

You and your friends Max and Danita are walking home from school.
"Hey let's take the dirt road through the forest home. I wanna show you guys something" Max says.
"I don't know. That forest is pretty creepy. And it's the long way home for me!" Danita argues.
"Aw come on. You're mom's not tracking the extra seconds it'll take for you to get home. Why don't we do what we always do, put it to a vote! I vote we go!" Max says.
"I vote we don't" Danita adds.
"I vote we go, Max always finds cool stuff."
"DeeDee is right. We should go the way we usually do. Max always gets us into trouble.
How about we do neither, and I show you guys what I found down by the lake behind the school.
